Jonathan Dries

I am a PhD candidate in Economics at LUISS Guido Carli University, interested in the deep-rooted determinants of growth and development. My research lies at the intersection of political economy, cultural economics, and economic history, using spatial and historical data to answer contemporary questions about economic development. I am advised by Professors Luigi Pascali and Mounu Prem, and I was a visiting student at the University of Nottingham, hosted by Professor Valeria Rueda.

Outside of my academic interest in how places develop, I am passionate about exploring them firsthand. For me, this means learning about the history, documenting the journey with photography, and engaging with local culture through its people and cuisine.
